Family Winterfest schedule of events

All events are free and open to the public. In the event of rain or freezing rain, the snow creation contest may be postponed. You can find out on Saturday morning by calling 989-5199.

. Ice carving, on waterfront near Muddy Rudder: Steve Griffiths and Jeff Day will start preparing the ice blocks at 1 p.m. Friday. Rough shaping of the ice will take place through Friday evening. They will carve the ice from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Free hot chocolate will be served on Saturday.

. Snow creation contest, at Doyle Field, next to Brewer Auditorium: Contest will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is open to all area residents. Teams can include up to 10 people. If a team has more than five people, half of the people must be 18 years of age or younger. Participants must supply their own decorations, dyes and props, if needed. To qualify for prizes, teams must register at the auditorium beforehand.

. Bonfire, at Doyle Field: There will be a bonfire after the snow creations are judged, from 3 p.m. into the evening. Sledding is encouraged.
