The matchups are halfway set for the Class B state championship basketball games now that Western Maine has crowned its regional titlists.

The Greely girls of Cumberland Center and Mountain Valley boys of Rumford will take on the winners of Saturday afternoon’s Eastern title games.

Top seed Greely will meet the Mount Desert Island-Maranacook winner Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. while fourth seed Mountain Valley will play the Winslow-Erskine Academy victor. The boys game will start 15 minutes after the conclusion of the girls awards ceremony.

WM Class B girls

Greely 34, Gray-NG 30

At the Augusta Civic Center, Brienna Googins and Jenn Johnston each scored seven points to help No. 1 Greely of Cumberland Center ahead fend off No. 3 Gray-New Gloucester in the Western Maine Class B final 34-30 at Augusta Civic Center Friday.

Stephanie Ginn, Kim Alexander, and Abby Marstaller all netted six points for Greely.

Josalee Danieli scored 11 points for Gray-New Gloucester and Laurie Young added eight points.

At Augusta Civic Center, Craig Milledge scored 17 points to help Mountain Valley claim the Western Maine Class B Championship.

Jarod Oldham netted 12 points for No. 4 Mountain Valley as Isaac Stravey and Kevin Gallant each added 10 points.

Andy Cary scored 22 points for No. 3 Greely and Aron Brooks had 12 points.
