The Presque Isle and Houlton-Hodgdon hockey teams each picked up a win Wednesday in Eastern Maine Class B quarterfinal action, while the Presque Isle boys basketball team logged the only upset in five Eastern Maine Class A boys basketball preliminary games.
In hockey, the No. 2 Wildcats earned a 3-0 victory over No. 7 Kents Hill and No. 3 Black Hawks rolled to a 6-1 win over No. 6 Hall-Dale/Winthrop.
The two teams will play each other Saturday in a semifinal.
In basketball, No. 9 Presque Isle edged No. 8 Mt. Blue of Farmington 49-38 and will face No. 1 Brunswick, the defending state champion, Saturday at 3:35 p.m.
The rest of the Eastern Maine Class A playoff games will be played at the Bangor Auditorium.
No. 6 Nokomis of Newport topped No. 11 Morse of Bath Wednesday. The Warriors will face No. 3 Cony of Augusta Friday in a 4:35 p.m. quarterfinal.
No. 5 Brewer cruised past No. 12 Leavitt of Turner to set up a Saturday quarterfinal against No. 4 Oxford Hills of South Paris at 8:35 p.m. The Vikings held off No. 13 Waterville in a prelim Wednesday.
No. 7 Lawrence of Fairfield beat No. 10 Skowhegan for a 11:05 a.m. quarterfinal against No. 2 Bangor.
Boys basketball
Brewer 60, Leavitt 45
At Brewer, Andy Frost netted 31 points to power the No. 5 Witches to a spot in the Eastern Maine Class A quarterfinals.
Lance Poland led the offence for No. 12-ranked Leavitt while Scott Kingsbury chipped in with eight points.

At Nokomis, Ryan McLellan poured in 29 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help lead the No. 6 Warriors to the win over No. 11 Morse in a Eastern Maine Class A preliminary game.
Luke Hayden scored 15 points and had three of his four blocked shots in the third quarter to help Nokomis secure the lead. Seth Bradstreet contributed with 11 points.
David Percy led the Morse effort with 23 points and six steals while Mason Lovitt added 10 points. Drew Colby helped out with seven rebounds to go with his nine points.

Derek Holt scored 15 points for Skowhegan and R.J. Anzelc added 11.

At Presque Isle, Joe Flenner scored the first goal with 10:43 left in the third period give Presque Isle the win over Kents Hill.
Ben Sirois scored off a Sam Shaw assist for the Wildcats and Brad Baker had an empty-net goal with an Eric Dionne assist. Sean Daigle made 30 saves on 30 shots for 16-3 Presque Isle.
Mike Whynott had 13 saves on 15 shots for 7-10-1 Kents Hill.
Houlton-Hodgdon wins 6-1
At Millar Arena in Houlton, Ian Pasquarelli scored two goals and had one assist to help Houlton-Hodgdon defeat Hall-Dale/Winthrop.
Andy Clark netted a goal with two assists for the Black Hawks and Chris Bither had a goal and an assist. Jared Sylvia and Ben Henderson each scored a goal and Ben Carton had two assists. Nic Joslyn stopped 23 of 24 shots for 14-7 Houlton-Hodgdon.
Ben Tondreau scored an unassisted goal with 11:26 left in the third period and Brandon Ellis made 36 saves on 42 shots for 10-10 Hall-Dale/Winthrop.
