PRESQUE ISLE – Leslie Leighninger, director of the School of Social Work at Arizona State University, will be the second speaker for the Distinguished Lecturer Series at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She will present “Social Work: Many Actors – One Profession” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Campus Center.
The presentation will focus on social work as a profession and how it has changed over the years. Leighninger’s major research and teaching interests include the history of social work and social welfare, social policy, and women’s and minority issues.
The last speaker for the spring series will be Angela Lumpkin, dean of education at Kansas University, who will present “From Bloomers to the Digital Age – Reflections on the Remarkable History of Physical Education in Higher Education” on Wednesday, April 23.
