Maine Maple Sunday is scheduled for March 23, when a larger group of maple sugar makers around the state open the doors of their sugarhouses for the public to join in their rite of spring – making maple syrup.
Visitors can learn firsthand how 40 gallons of maple sap is turned into 1 gallon of maple syrup. Most sugarhouses offer free tasting, and many offer other attractions, including pancakes or ice cream with syrup, sugarbush tours, and sleigh or wagon rides.
