SEBEC – A heating device that was being used to thaw out a frozen pipe Thursday ignited the interior wall of a Sebec home.

The three-story home of William and Charlene Moriarty on Sebec Village Road received smoke and water damage in the fire that was reported shortly after 11 a.m., according to Bob Slama, Sebec fire chief.

Slama said the family would be living in another local home until the building could be repaired. Slama said anyone who would like to make donations to help the family can send it to the Sebec Fire Department, 719 Sebec Village Road, Sebec 04481.
