BANGOR – The condition of a Caribou boy who was struck by lightning last Sunday afternoon while sliding with friends was upgraded to serious Friday at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, according to a hospital representative.

Steven Crowley, 15, was sliding with friends at Caribou Country Club when he was hit by the bolt of lightning.

Crowley was knocked unconscious. A bystander who also was slightly shocked by the lightning performed CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived.

The lightning also shocked three of Crowley’s friends with whom he was sliding. They were treated at a local hospital and later released.

A Web site has been set up where people can get regular updates on Steven’s condition. Information is available at www.caringbridge.org/me/stevencrowley.org/
