‘Tip A Cop’ novel fund-raiser for Calais school trip to NYC

CALAIS – The lavender A-line dress with the plunging neckline was from Frederick’s of Baring, not Frederick’s of Hollywood.

The designer was Tsunami not Armani, and the police chief who was wearing the dress did it to raise money for the eighth-grade class’s trip to New York City.

Everyone who enjoyed lunch Friday at the Calais Motor Inn agreed that Chief Michael Milburn was a good sport and looked quite stylish.

Tip a Cop proved to be a huge success, and by noon the Calais Police Department had raised nearly $450, and they still had the supper crowd to serve.

The chief, wearing fishnet stockings, lavender eye shadow and just of hint of jewelry, including his gold shield, served as host, seating guests at the Calais Motor Inn.

The police officers volunteered their time for the fund-raiser, and it was a busy afternoon.

As the men in blue moved among the eaters filling water glasses, four of Milburn’s staff sang “Pretty Woman” to the chief, just slightly off-key.
