ORONO – Four players from the University of Maine field hockey team were selected to the 2002 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic Squad. Kristy Ferran, Rachael Hilgar, Rebecca Ouellet, and Jill Rosick were the players selected.

NFHCA Academic Squad players are nominated by coaches for their on-field performances and must have a grade point average of 3.30 or better through the first semester of the 2002-03 academic year.
