Associate staff scientist Joel Graber, Ph.D., is the newest principal investigator to be recruited by The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor. A computational biologist, Graber will work on the laboratory’s bioinformatics program – an emerging field that uses the computer as a tool to study biology – in order to help answer questions surrounding the regulation of genes between the stages of RNA synthesis and protein synthesis. Graber has a bachelor’s degree in both physics and computer science from Michigan Tech University, a Ph.D. from Cornell University, and close to seven years of post-doctoral and professional service in bioinformatics at Boston University.

Michael Albee of Howland has joined Lincoln-based Worcester Brothers as division manager for the Lincoln and Millinocket area. His responsibilities will include managing the operations of the fuel and burner service department. Albee, a Caribou native, spent the last five years in Massachusetts managing an oil company and has more than 20 years’ experience in operational management.

Melissa Mank, a longtime employee of Camden National Corp., has accepted a new role with NOVA Information Systems, the organization selected to administer Camden National’s merchant credit card portfolio. As an outside sales executive and relationship manager for NOVA, Mank will develop new business and provide dedicated support and service to merchant credit card customers of Camden National Bank and UnitedKingfield Bank. After joining Camden National Bank in 1988, Mank worked as a teller and customer service representative at the Camden downtown branch. In 1994 she was promoted to loan administrative assistant serving the Belfast area. In 1999, Mank moved to Camden National Corp.’s Service Center in Rockport to develop and provide demonstrations of the bank’s online business banking products. She was promoted to team leader of electronic banking in 2001.

Catherine L. Moore of Brewer has been named assistant vice president and branch operations administrator at UnitedKingfield Bank, headquartered in Bangor. Moore now oversees operations for UnitedKingfield Bank and its 16 branches. She also is responsible for security, compliance and Community Reinvestment Act activities. Moore has 30 years of experience in the banking industry. In 1994, she joined United Bank as Bangor branch supervisor. She was promoted to assistant manager of the Bangor branch in 1998 after United’s 1995 affiliation with Camden National Corp. Following the union of United Bank and Kingfield Bank in 2000, Moore was promoted twice, first to Bangor regional sales manager and then to branch operations administrator.

New England Financial-Maine-NH Agency has appointed Richard W. May, LUTCF, as a regional sales representative. May, of Old Town, is an 18-year veteran in the life insurance, property and casualty and investment industry. He is currently the Maine state president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
