RICHMOND – Police think excessive speed was a factor in a car accident that killed a Richmond teenager late Thursday night.

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department said Dustin Labelle, 18, was killed when his car crashed into a tree on the Langdon Road at about 11:15 p.m. Police said Labelle was the only one in the car and died at the scene.

Officials said the investigation is continuing but that excessive speed is believed to be a factor.
