Missing disabled man not found, family says

MACHIAS – A disabled man who disappeared Feb. 27 from a local assisted-care living facility had not been found Sunday, his family said.

Frank Rossi Jr., 45, walked away from Marshall Manor on Feb. 27 and has not been heard from since, according to his sister, Deborah Belanger of Caribou.

Rossi had been at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, suffering from disorientation, before he was transferred to the Machias facility, Belanger said Sunday.

He has had a brain tumor since he was 16, she said.

Rossi, who normally lives in a group home in Old Town, disappeared from Marshall Manor after he ate supper at the facility and told some of the other residents he was going to walk to Glenburn, according to his sister.

“I think he’s OK,” Belanger said. “I don’t believe he is out in the cold.”

The Machias Police Department is investigating the case. An official with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday confirmed Rossi had not been found.

Belanger said her sister, Michelle Bagley of Glenburn, has distributed pictures of their brother in Washington County in an attempt to find him. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with brown shoulder-length hair and has a mustache and beard. He also has a scar on his forehead over his left eye, she said.
