BANGOR – The Telford Group, a Bangor-based aviation services company, announced Thursday it is selling its air cargo division to Air Now, a cargo airline based in Bennington, Vt. There will be no changes in cargo flight schedules, according to The Telford Group.
Bangor International Airport Director Rebecca Hupp said Thursday she didn’t think the sale would have any significant impact on services offered at BIA.
The air cargo division was part of Telford Aviation Inc., with subsidiaries in both Bangor and Rockland. A significant addition to the company’s hangar complex in Bangor is scheduled for later this month.
The decision to cease cargo operations is reflective of Telford’s strategy of concentrating on aircraft maintenance, leasing and parts sales, according to the company. Air Now will acquire a number of Telford owned Cessna Caravan cargo aircraft as part of the transaction. Telford Aviation will continue to maintain these aircraft in Bangor.
The Telford Group will continue to operate a number of aircraft in Maine from its Bangor, Rockland and Loring locations, including daily passenger and airfreight services to the Penobscot Bay islands.
