CARIBOU – The Caribou boy who was struck by lightning Feb. 23 while sliding with friends remained in serious condition Friday at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Steven Crowley, 15, was hit by lightning and knocked unconscious late in the afternoon while standing with friends on a hill at the Caribou Country Club.

A bystander performed CPR on him until paramedics arrived to resuscitate him. His friends were less seriously injured.

Updates on Crowley’s condition are available at www.caringbridge.org/me/stevencrowley.org/.

According to information posted this week by family members, Crowley has gained more control over his arms and hands and has shown signs of being able to distinguish between objects in his room.

His ability to swallow also has improved, and he has tried to eat small amounts of food.

He has been working with speech, physical and occupational therapists twice a day.
