University of Maine junior right wing Karen Droog was named to the All-Hockey East second team in balloting among the league’s coaches.
Droog, a native of Listowel, Ontario, is Maine’s leading goal scorer with 15 to go with seven assists in 30 games. She also leads the team in shots on goal with 122.
“She has been snake-bitten, but this has been, by far, her best season,” said Maine coach Rick Filighera. “Her effort has been great, her work ethic has been great and her attitude has been great. She is a goal scorer. She’s the one I want with the puck in the slot.”
Droog had 25 goals last season when she was chosen an ECAC East second teamer.
She is the school’s all-time leading point-getter with 93 and goal scorer with 62.
Junior left wing Meagan Aarts was chosen an honorable mention thanks to her team-leading 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists.
