GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Karima Ummah of Litchfield tied her own school record in the high jump, but finished second at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at DePauw University Saturday.

The Colby College junior was named an All-American for her jump of 5 feet, 71/4 inches. Winner Kim Deprez won the event with a jump of 5-91/4.

Other Colby standouts from Maine included Connie Beal of Cumberland, who finished fifth in the shot put at 46-23/4 to earn All-America honors as well; Elizabeth Frederick was ninth in the pole vault with a jump of 10-11, and sophomore Xavier Garcia was eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.74 seconds.

Darryl Whitney, a senior middle distance runner from the University of Southern Maine, finished ninth in the 1,500-meter run with a school-record time of 3 minutes, 55.95 seconds.
