BANGOR – April Fool’s for book lovers will return for the second year. The Friends of the Eastern Maine Technical College Library is sponsoring BOOKS2EAT2003, an international Edible Book Festival and Friend-Raiser, 3-5 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Rangeley Hall on Sylvan Road. The event will benefit the EMTC library.

Anyone may contribute an edible book for display at the event, which also features a high silver tea with refreshments concocted by students from the college’s culinary arts program.

Those who provide an edible book for display will receive free admission. All others pay a $7 entry fee at the door. The fee includes refreshments and five tickets to be used to vote for the winning book.

Voting on the edible book entries will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. – then the edible books will be eaten.

The public, including book-loving gastronomes, epicures, chefs, cooks, artists and students, is invited to take part in the edible book April foolery.

The organizers extend a special invitation to students enrolled in culinary arts and fine arts courses, and to chefs and caterers in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo and Hancock counties.

To obtain more information or to submit an entry, call Deb Perro at 941-4601 or Sue Jagels at 973-8227. Their e-mail addresses are dperro@emtc.org, or sjagels@emh.org.
