The preferred proposal of the Interstate 95 extension is slated to end in Presque Isle, with upgrades of U.S. Route 1 to Caribou and Route 161 to Daigle. The least officials could consider is to start the new extension road from Route 161 to Madawaska at the Route 162 junction.
