AUGUSTA – Heating oil prices continue to fall in Maine, with the statewide average for a gallon down to $1.61, a decline of 13 cents since last week and the lowest it has been since early February, the State Planning Office reported Monday.
Prices ranged from as low as $1.40 a gallon in southwestern sections of the state to as high as $1.80 a gallon in some western areas.
Kerosene dropped 12 cents to an average of $1.85 a gallon. Propane was down 6 cents to an average of $1.76 a gallon for a 600-gallon residential supply.
Despite the loss of crude oil from Iraq, warmer weather has decreased demand for heating fuels.
