Just desserts

Satisfy your sweet tooth and support a good cause at Spruce Run’s annual Gala Dessert Party from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Spectacular Events Center on the Griffin Road in Bangor. The event will feature “desserts by the area’s most famous chocolatiers with a nod to fruit and vanilla,” as well as live music by the Hampden Academy Jazz Lab Band and the Spontaneous Jazz Ensemble, and a performance of the Feminist Oral History Project’s Readers’ Theatre. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and all proceeds benefit Spruce Run. For information or tickets, call 945-5102.

Maine dishes

Maine companies took the cake in the New England Products Trade Show earlier this month. In the specialty foods competition. Portland-based Haven’s Candies took first place for its sweet treats. Apple Acres Farm in Hiram took second, Gladstone’s Under the Sun of Bar Harbor and Sisters Salsa of Blue Hill both were named honorable mentions. The products were judged by buyers at the annual trade show, which highlights locally made gifts and food products.

Shades of spring

Your leftovers will still taste the same, but Tupperware’s new spring colors will at least make them look a little better. The classic containers have been updated in shades of soft blue, green, tangerine, pink, lavender and yellow. They’re available at www.tupperware.com, or visit the Tupperware shop in the Airport Mall in Bangor.
