‘Green’ accreditation

Richard M. Graves II, education studio director of WBRC Architects-Engineers, has received professional accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design by the U.S. Green Building Council.

WBRC officials said the accreditation strengthens the firm’s commitment to Green Building Design, adding that it plans to have an interdisciplinary team of LEED-accredited architects and engineers.

The concept of Green Building Design encourages ecological and resource-efficient building. Green buildings are designed to protect occupant health and improve employee productivity using energy, water, and other resources more efficiently, reducing the overall impact to the environment.

LEED was created to define “green building” by establishing a common standard of measurement and raise consumer awareness of green building benefits, transforming the building market.
