AUGUSTA – The Maine Department of Transportation expects to complete a study this spring on the need for rest areas around Maine for commercial trucks.
The study will include the results of a trucker survey on rest area needs, as well as list possible sites for truck rest area construction.
A “Discussion Draft” of the study is available for public review and comment on the MDOT Web site at www.state.me.us/mdot or on the Maine Motor Transport Association’s Web site at www.mmta.com.
DOT is interested in feedback from long-distance truckers who frequently use Maine’s highway system.
Comments on the discussion draft also may be submitted by calling Tim Bolton, MDOT Office of Freight Transportation, at 624-3559; or e-mailing tim.bolton@maine.gov.
Comments must be received by 4 p.m. Monday, April 7.
