CASTINE – The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners rallied to score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the first game of a doubleheader with UMaine-Farmington 9-6 in college softball action Thursday. The Beavers came back to win the nightcap 16-1.

CASTINE – The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners rallied to score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the first game of a doubleheader with UMaine-Farmington 9-6 in college softball action Thursday.

The Beavers came back to win the nightcap 16-1.

In the first game, Abbi Darling, Jessica Clifford and Amanda Wells each contributed an RBI single in the sixth for the Mariners.

Darling also had a two-run homer in the fourth for the winners.

Cynthia Ravinski and Kristi Cochin led the Beavers with two and three singles each.

In the second game, Samantha Goyette socked a triple, single and drove in four runs in UMF’s offensive barrage.

Liz Seubert knocked a solo homer for the winners. Richelle Dube rapped two singles with an RBI, and Mary Berry whacked an RBI double.

Elise Bishop had a double to lead the Mariners.
