PORTLAND – Hadlock Field is taking on a greater flavor of Boston’s Fenway Park as the season opener nears for the Portland Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs, who play the Trenton Thunder on April 3, already erected their own version of Fenway’s Green Monster. On Wednesday, workers installed a Citgo sign and a giant Coca-Cola bottle, completing the transformation in left field.

The changes at Hadlock Field follow the Sea Dogs’ signing of a two-year agreement to serve as a farm team for the Red Sox.

The Green Monster idea was hatched by Sea Dogs owner Dan Burke and quickly embraced by Charlie Eshbach, president and general manager.

Like Fenway, Hadlock has a relatively short distance down the left field line. Fenway’s is 310 feet, Hadlock’s 315 feet. Portland’s Green Monster is the same height as the real one at Fenway: 37 feet.
