Jazz festival winners announced

SOUTH PORTLAND – Thirty-four bands, from Fort Kent to Old Orchard, assembled Saturday at South Portland High School for the Maine Music Educators Association Middle School State Jazz Festival. The bands competed by performing three selections before a panel of judges within a 25-minute time span. The divisions are based on school populations.

The results are as follows:

Division 1

Outstanding Trombone – Jarod Morneau, Brunswick

Outstanding Trumpet – Kit Smith, Brunswick

Outstanding Woodwind – Dan Gland, Mount Ararat

Outstanding Rhythm – Jon Liaow, Falmouth

Outstanding Trombone – Cody Gilks, Leonard (White)

Outstanding Trombone – John Downs, Warsaw
