Presque Isle police seek man wanted in alleged hatchet attack

PRESQUE ISLE – Police are still looking for a Presque Isle man wanted in connection with an alleged hatchet attack last weekend.

Chad B. Walton, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault and burglary for allegedly breaking into a home on Chapman Street early Sunday morning and assaulting a man staying there.

Walton allegedly hit the Presque Isle man in the back of the neck with a hatchet during a fight. The victim was treated for his injury at a local hospital and later released.

Walton fled after Garrett Brewer, 25, who lives at the house, awoke and fired a rifle when Walton came at him and the victim with the hatchet.

The victim and Brewer both told police they did not know Walton. Police have yet to established a motive for the attack.
