Corinth motorcyclist killed in Bangor crash

BANGOR – A 24-year-old Corinth man died Friday afternoon after he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a car on Broadway.

Bangor police closed down a section of Broadway from Griffin Road to Kenduskeag Avenue to most traffic for much of the afternoon as they investigated the fatal accident that occurred near Judson Boulevard about 12:30 p.m.

Authorities said Jarrod Harvey traveling on Broadway when he lost control of his 1997 Yamaha motorcycle. Bangor police Lt. Mark Hathaway said that Harvey’s motorcycle struck a car heading toward Bangor that was driven by Monty Judkins, 31, of Bangor. Harvey died of multiple injuries.

Judkins was taken to a local hospital, but no information about his condition was available.

Bangor police Officers Steve Jordan and James Dearing reconstructed the accident, taking measurements to determine what had occurred and how fast Harvey was traveling at the time of the accident. To measure the friction of the road, one of the factors in determining speed, Jordan drove an unmarked cruiser along Broadway and stopped abruptly, while equipment attached to the cruiser took measurements.
