MILWAUKEE – Righthander Matt Kinney, a Bangor High School product traded to the Milwaukee Brewers during the offseason, will start the season with the big-league ballclub.
The Brewers also purchased the contracts of Keith Osik, Eddie Perez and John Vander Wal, adding them to their roster.
Kinney was 2-7 with a 4.64 earned run average last season with Minnesota, but missed nearly two months with a shoulder strain.
Vander Wal spent last season with the New York Yankees and hit .260 with six home runs and 20 RBI in 84 games. Osik made 27 appearances behind the plate for the Pittsburgh Pirates last year. He hit .160 with two home runs and 11 RBIs.
Perez, a catcher, spent last season with the Cleveland Indians and hit .214 with nine doubles and four RBIs in 42 games.
