BANGOR – Craig Harvey tossed a three-hitter to lift the Husson College Braves past Fisher College 4-0 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader at the Winkin Baseball Complex Saturday.
Fisher of Boston won the second game 13-12.
In the first game, Harvey struck out five without a walk in picking up the win.
Josh Ferguson had an RBI triple and Tony Laprino drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Harvey plated a run with a single and Jason Harvey also drove in a run. Shawn Henderson singled twice for the Braves.
In the second game, Husson outhit Fisher 13-12 but the visitors pulled off the 9-6 win.
Ferguson was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Craig Harvey had a pair of hits scored twice and drove in a run. Justin Spencer also had a pair of singles and an RBI for the Braves.

USM sweeps Western Conn.
At Danbury, Conn. on Saturday, Southern Maine pounded out 26 hits and scored 25 runs to lead them to a pair of wins over Western Connecticut. USM won the first game 13-4 and won 12-5 in the six-inning second game which was shortened by rain.
In the first game, Brian Marshall nailed a grand slam to help power the Huskies to the win. Paul Tedesco hit a two-run homer and a two-run single.
In the second game, Marshall had an RBI single to get the scoring started while Andy Lang hit an RBI double and Lemieux added a two-run double.

At Castine, Saturday, Mount Ida took 23 of their 44 shorts and scored seven goals in the first half to help power them to the win. Joe Chesworth, Matt Burns and Peter Vander scored a goal apiece for 1-3 Maine Maritime while Grant Robinson made 16 saves on 44 shots.
Amherst 11, Colby 9
At Waterville, Amherst rushed ahead to a 9-3 lead by halftime to help secure the win on Saturday. Barron Butler scored three goals and had an assist for 1-3 Colby while Joshua Cleaver had two goals. Pete Lagos added a goal and an assist while Matthew LaPaglis stopped 13 shots.
Women’s lacrosse
Amherst 17, Colby 12
At Amherst, Mass., Saturday, Liz Martin led Amherst with six goals to help give them the edge they needed to defeat Colby. Ally King paced the Colby effort with three goals and four assists while Elizabeth Ghilardi, Kate Wheeler and Amanda Epstein scored two goals apiece. Anna Scherr made 16 stopped 16 shots for the 3-3 White Mules.
Softball
Maine Maritime 32, Bay Path 30
At Castine on Sunday, the Mariners overcame a 15-run deficit to earn the win over Bay Path of Longmeadow, Mass.
The game was marred by rainy, sloppy conditions with four pitchers combining to walk 53 batters.
Junior Abbi Darling had a pair of doubles among her three hits. Darling drove in five runs. Jessica Clifford drove in six runs with a two singles and a double. Amanda Wells of Presque Isle had a pair of hits for the Braves.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed.

Lasell defeats MMA twice
At Castine on Saturday, Maine Maritime played Lasell and lost the first game 10-5 and the second game 9-1.
In the first game, Britney Falite led Lasell with a double and a single with an RBI.
Maygan Hardison had two RBI singles for MMA while Abbi Darling hit a double and a single for one RBI. Amanda Wells chipped in with two singles.
In the second game, Sonja Landry allowed only one hit and one walk while striking out nine to lead the Lasers to the win. Elise Bishop singled for MMA.

USM splits two games with RIC
At Providence, R.I., Southern Maine split a pair of games against Rhode Island College, losing the first game 4-3 and winning the second 2-0.
In the first game, Melanie Miller scored on a hit by Megan Ponte to give Rhode Island the win.
Renee Heath had two singles for two RBIs for the USM effort.
In the second game, Kristen Tong scored what would be the winning run on a passed ball while Kristi Steward hit a single send home Sarah McLean for an insurance run.
