LEWISTON – A partially decomposed body was discovered Tuesday near the National Guard armory, police said.

An all-terrain vehicle operator found the body shortly before 6 p.m. off Goddard Road.

The body, which had apparently lain beneath the snow for months, was not immediately identified.

Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play. The body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta.
