GREENVILLE – A break-in reported over the weekend at a seasonal Sangerville home in which several thousand dollars worth of antiques were stolen led police Monday to search two Greenville homes.

Investigators with the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department executed search warrants at two connecting homes but declined to reveal their location in Greenville because the investigation is continuing. Some items stolen from the East Sangerville home were recovered in Greenville and all the other items have been located in Skowhegan, according to Lt. Robert Young.

Young said the antiques taken included a $4,000 table, chairs and other furniture. He believed the break-in occurred at the Sangerville home during the past two weeks but said it was only discovered last weekend.

Young said that during the search Monday officers recovered other items that were believed stolen in earlier burglaries in the region. He said arrests would be made once the investigation has concluded.

Young credited Investigator Guy Dow for the quick resolution of the burglary. “He did very good police work,” Young said. “He took information he had and followed it until he had a good case.”
