NATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL

Share your Folk Fest memories from 2002 Write down your story and send it to the BDN

BANGOR – Remember the sights and sounds of last summer’s National Folk Festival on the waterfront in Bangor? Maybe you marched with the Treme Brass Band and paraded with an old friend you haven’t seen for years. Perhaps you were one of the local Spanish-speaking people who found out while watching the Papantla Flyers that you have neighbors who speak the same language. Did you see your grandparents kiss while dancing to Texas-Polish polka? Or did you lift a child in the hip-hop scene to help him see above the crowd?

We’re guessing you have loads of memories – funny, touching, happy and poignant – of the first National Folk Festival. As the city prepares for the second extravaganza of music, dance, crafts and food, we’re hoping you’ll share some of your memories of the last one with us.

If you have a special recollection from last year, we would like to tell your story in 100 words or less. Send submissions by May 15 to Alicia Anstead, Folk Festival Memories, Bangor Daily News, PO Box 1329, Bangor, ME 04402, fax to 207-941-9476, or e-mail aanstead@bangordailynews.net.

Include your full name, address and a phone number. All entries may be edited for length, taste and content.
