Maine’s 23rd annual Maine International Trade Day will be held May 22 at the Samoset Resort in Rockport. Maine International Trade Day is an annual event that offers regional businesses comprehensive seminars and information on international trade opportunities.

The theme this year is “Competition in a Global Market.”

Three afternoon seminars are scheduled and Maine International Trade Center President Richard Coyle will present the annual update on The State of Trade for Maine. Attendees will receive the most-up-to-date statistics on how Maine is experiencing export growth and is leading the national average in its export activity.

At dinner, Gov. John Baldacci will announce Maine’s annual International Trade Awards which are presented to companies excelling in international business; followed by a keynote address by Maja Wessels, vice president of European Operations for United Technologies and a native of Bangor.
