Patrick Nadeau received 56 votes to Joella McBreairty’s 52 to capture the seat of first selectman in a runoff election April 10.
At the polls March 27, Nadeau and McBreairty each received 45 votes in a three-way competition to replace Fernald Jandreau, who chose to retire from public service after 22 years as a selectman.
The third contender, Diane Nadeau, received 43 votes.
Nadeau, a manager at Irving Specialties, a manufacturer of cedar planters, said his primary goal was to “fill Jandreau’s shoes.”
“I don’t think there will be much change,” Nadeau said Tuesday. “Things were done right before.”
Nadeau held the position of second selectman for three years.
