Hearing center to offer course for caregivers

BANGOR – The Warren Center for Communication and Learning will offer a new session of “Coping with Memory Disorders through Communication” 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 23 and 30 and May 7 and 14, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 540 Essex St.

The workshop is free. On-site professional respite care is available. Registration is required.

The workshop, open to family caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders, is funded by the United Way of Eastern Maine. Class materials are provided free for family caregivers. Speech-language pathologist Lisa Hosfeld will lead the workshop. She has extensive experience working with older adults in hospitals, homes and rehabilitation centers.

The Warren Center offers the workshop to help family and personal caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s or other memory disorders communicate more effectively with those in their care.
