ORONO – The Esther Eayres Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently held a tea to honor its DAR Good Citizens, winners of the American History Essay Contest and American Field Service students in the area.

DAR Good Citizens are Renee Thibodeau, Old Town High School; Kelly Swindlehurst, Orono High School; and Brody Artes, Penobscot Valley High School.

American Essay Contest winners are Timothy Smith, Morgan Rublee and Lindsay Grotton, all of Glenburn. They attend Glenburn Elementary School and their teachers are Janet Ecker and Sari Omart. The pupils wrote on the topic “A Letter from Valley Forge in the Winter 1777-78.”

American Field Service students honored were Julia Werner of Germany, Quida Magni of Italy, and Jesse Newcomb of Orono, who had studied in Venezuela.
