BANGOR – Construction on the Interstate 95 bridge over the Kenduskeag Stream will be halted for Saturday’s 37th annual canoe race, but some roadways will still be as tough to navigate as the roiling water, according to Bangor police.

Police warn spectators and race participants that traffic on outer Broadway will be one way Saturday headed outbound toward Kenduskeag. Inbound traffic will be detoured to the McCarthy Road or the Finson Road before the bridge at Six Mile Falls, exiting at Griffin Road.

In the city, police are requesting everyone to avoid driving on Valley Avenue as there will be no parking between the bridge and Fourteenth Street. North of the bridge, there will be limited parking on one side of the road away from the stream. From Bruce Road to Kenduskeag Avenue there will be parking on one side of the road.

Police ask motorists to pay attention to detour signs and parking signs and to drive slowly, watching for pedestrians.
