CAMDEN – Karen Grove, who had been a candidate for one of two expiring terms on the Select Board, has withdrawn her nomination papers.
Town Clerk Beth MacDonald said Thursday that Grove has decided instead to run for the seat being vacated by Paul Cartwright, who will resign June 10. Cartwright’s term has two years left. Grove took out nomination papers for Cartwright’s seat, the clerk said, but has not returned them yet.
Grove’s decision leaves two candidates for the two expiring terms on the board. John French Jr. will seek re-election to his seat, and Parker “Chip” Laite Jr. also has taken out nomination papers.
Dave Miramant announced earlier this week that he will not seek re-election.
SAD 28 and Five Town Community School District board member Stuart Smith will not seek re-election, MacDonald said. To date, just one candidate, James S. Patterson, has taken out nomination papers for the seat.
All nomination papers are due in the town office by 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 28.
The election is June 10.
