EAST SULLIVAN – Sumner Memorial High School will be the host of a second “Chew and Chat” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the school.
Discussion group topics will include use of the state’s Learning Results program and related issues, student substance abuse, and the school climate.
Joanne Cassida Harriman, curriculum coordinator, and Sally Leighton, principal, invite community comment on these topics.
The school is under consideration to become a Promising Futures high school, a program for selected schools to receive funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through Maine’s George Mitchell Institute.
The money supports schoolwide transformations that focus on so-called personalized learning opportunities, improved access to higher education, opportunities to prepare for success after high school, and community-based learning.
Call 422-3510 for information and to RSVP by April 28. The menu for the evening includes ham, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans.
