OLD TOWN – Erin Sherman hit a double in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday, providing the winning run in Old Town’s 7-6 softball victory over Nokomis of Newport.

Jill Ouellette had two doubles and Meghan Swandal hit two singles for the Indians. Emelie Richard contributed a two-run double and Jen Higgins added an RBI triple.

Jen Bigelow and Alyssa Bragdon had an RBI single apiece for the Nokomis effort while Danielle Clark helped out with a double.

Bangor Christian 18, PVHS 6

At Bangor, Andrea Sage’s two-run double keyed a four-run fifth-inning rally that erased a 6-5 deficit and sent Bangor Christian on its way to victory over Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Sage also tripled and drove in five runs. Monique Veilleux had an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run single in the nine-run sixth-inning rally; Alyssa Libby had two singles and two RBIs for the Patriots and Annie Babineau had two singles and an RBI.

Kara Hartman picked up the win with six innings of four-hit, six-run, nine-strikeout ball.

Crystal Levesque’s triple, Sarah Colbath’s RBI double and Toni Babineau’s run-scoring single paced PVHS.

At Mount Desert, Abbie Chapman doubled, singled and knocked in a run to power the Trojans.

Emma Stanley knocked three singles for the winners and Becca Gott singled and stole two bases.

Cassie White led the Hawks with two homers, a solo shot and a two-run bomb, plus two singles. Kristen Oakes and Ashley Ross each had two singles.

Nokomis 6, Old Town 3

At Old Town, Mike Jacques’ two-run single keyed a two-run sixth inning that snapped a scoreless tie and gave Nokomis the lead for good.

Ed Jacques and Mike Jacques combined on a six-hitter. Ed Jacques struck out eight and walked three over six-plus innings before Mike came on to pitch out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh.

Josh Vile had two singles for Nokomis of Newport while Brad Goody hit a solo homer for Old Town and Cory Estes doubled and singled.

Ryan Brown pitched five innings of two-hit, eight-strikeout shutout ball for Old Town before reaching his pitch limit.

At Mount Desert, John Dow singled twice and drove in three runs to lead the Trojans.

Matt Grover had two singles and two RBIs for the winners, and Brad Staples notched a two-run single.

Matt Joy hit two singles and drove in two runs for the Hawks and Joey Schacht added an RBI single.

At Bangor, Tom Ireland doubled twice and knocked in two runs as the Howlers of Howland prevailed.

Scott Hockbridge had two singles for the winners, and Cody Thompson registered 13 strikeouts.

D.J. McLeary collected a triple, single and two RBIs for the Patriots. Brady Harriman tripled in two runs, and Dave Chrisos added three singles.
