I regretted to read in the April 16 Bangor Daily News that Michael Heath, executive director of the Christian Civic League of Maine, was not welcomed at the fifth annual Civil Rights Team Conference in Augusta.
This seminar was supposed to promote tolerance for diversity. Certainly, as a Christian and family man, Heath’s views are diverse from many of the worldly ideas promoted at the seminar. Where was the tolerance for the Christian viewpoint? This should have been shared also.
However, as a Christian he is looked upon as intolerant. As a Christian myself, I can say that true Christians love all people. Nevertheless, there are certain lifestyles Christians cannot condone, and we do not want them presented to our children or grandchildren as acceptable alternative lifestyles.
These lifestyles are destructive to the home and family life that God intended for us to enjoy. People who care about marriage and the family need to take a stand before these institutions are destroyed.
