BOSTON – Julie Henneke pitched a one-hit shutout as Boston University topped the University of Maine 2-0 in the first game of a Wednesday doubleheader and won the second 3-0 for a sweep.

In the first game, Henneke doubled and singled for Boston. Abbey Pauley singled and scored a run. Lauren Dulkis singled for the Black Bears’ only hit.

In the second game, Kristin Knesek hit a home run and a triple for the Terriers. Josey Mendez had a pair of singled.

Erin Provost singled twice for Maine.

At Biddeford, Jena Beauregard pitched a pair of shutouts as the Leopards beat the Nor’easters 2-0 and 9-0 in a doubleheader.

In the first game, Jen LaChapelle hit a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth. Beauregard fanned eight. Dannielle Hebert, Amber Taylor, Michelle Clark and Casey Macisso each singled for UNE.

In the second game, Diane Piersall doubled and drove in two runs for Wentworth.

Thomas sweeps UM-Farmington

At Waterville, Scott Brawn powered the Terrier offense in a doubleheader, leading the way with a solo homer, two doubles and a single as Thomas picked up a 2-1 win in the opener and a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

In the first game, Ryan O’Connor singled in Aaron Bonenfant, who had reached on a two-out double in the fifth, after Brawn’s fourth-inning homer. Corey Pelletier doubled and singled for Thomas.

Justin Quimby led the Beavers with an RBI double.

In the second game, Thomas’ Jordan McDonald tripled and doubled. Pelletier singled and recorded a sacrifice fly for two RBIs. Tom Ventura slammed an RBI double and Dustin Armitage hit a run-scoring single for UMF.

At Standish, Greg Kimball scattered five hits and fanned a career-high 12 to lift the Monks to a 3-0 victory in the opening game of a doubleheader. St. Joseph’s took the second game 7-1.

In the first game, Jesse LaCasse hit a solo homer in the fourth. Jake Rodden doubled and singled. Andy Exley drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Five Bobcats each hit a single.

In the second game, Jack Hughes hit a double and a single and tallied two RBIs for the Monks. Ben Muniz brought home a run on a sacrifice fly. Nate Maxwell doubled and singled for Bates.
