PORTLAND – The Portland Sea Dogs will salute a common household tool in Saturday’s game against the New Haven Ravens at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs will host the Salute to Duck Tape, in which fans are encouraged to dress up in clothing and accessories made from the tape.

The best costumes will be selected to compete in a fashion show, with the winner earning a gift certificate to Home Depot. Prizes will be awarded to runners-up.

A duct tape sculptor will lead the event. Duct tape was created during World War II for U.S. soldiers, who called it duck tape because of its water-resistant properties.

Saturday’s game starts at 1 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Duckbill noisemaker. Ushers will also hand out rolls of duct tape.
