The Supreme Judicial Court has appointed Diane Cutler of Bangor and Jon S. Oxman of Auburn to be trustees of the Maine Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection.
The fund, which was established July 1, 1997, has a stated purpose of promoting public confidence in the legal profession by making efforts toward reimbursement of losses caused by the dishonest conduct of lawyers licensed to practice law in Maine.
Cutler has served previously on myriad local, civic and charitable organizations, including the Bangor Planning Board, and previously served the court as a member of the Board of Overseers of the Bar and the Committee on Judicial Responsibility and Disability. Cutler now serves on the board of directors of the newly created Penobscot Valley Senior College.
Oxman is managing partner of Linnell, Choate & Webber LLP in Auburn. He is a director of Mechanics Savings Bank and has served previously as a member and chair of the Board of Overseers of the Bar. Oxman was the chair of the committee appointed by the court to study the advisability of establishing the fund.
