Brewer police arrested a Carmel man who allegedly swapped price tags at Marden’s department store Friday.

Officer David Lord went to the store at noon, and found Travis Chapman, 21, in custody of store security. Lord said security officers saw Chapman switch the tags from a $70 pair of sneakers with those of a $30 pair, and stopped him when he tried to buy the more expensive pair. Lord learned Chapman was on bail for a prior charge of receiving stolen property and arrested him. After a search of his car, Chapman was charged with theft, violation of bail and possession of drug paraphernalia.

An Orono man received a summons Friday after a late-morning accident in Brewer.

Brewer police Officer David Lord said Kenneth Morrill, 21, was driving outbound on Wilson Street in the right lane. He then turned left to pull into B&D Marine, which meant crossing three lanes of busy traffic.

Lord said Morrill made it partway across one lane and was hit in the driver’s side door by a Toyota Corolla driven by Lisa Champney, 34. Lord charged Morrill with failure of a left-turning vehicle to yield right of way.

A Brewer man allegedly spat ice cubes at a hospital security guard and was summoned for assault Thursday night.

Bangor police Officer Myron Warner went to Eastern Maine Medical Center at 8 p.m. on an assault call. He spoke with a security guard who said Leroy Dunn, 21, spat ice cubes at his leg.

Warner said Dunn denied trying to hit the guard with ice.

Warner summoned Dunn for assault and gave him a disorderly conduct warning.
