Two Brewer men found pieces of cinder block thrown through their car windows Sunday morning.
Brewer police Officer Tony Pinette said a Washington Street man called about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, saying someone broke his rear window. An Eastern Avenue man made a similar call about 10:30 a.m., saying his windshield was damaged.
Damage was estimated at $200 each.
Anyone who heard or saw suspicious activity on Washington Street or Eastern Avenue on Saturday night is asked to call Brewer Police Department at 989-7001.
Brewer police summoned a woman for assault and arrested her for refusing to sign the summons Sunday morning.
About 8 a.m. Cpl. Jason Moffitt and Officer Tony Pinette went to a North Main Street address for an assault complaint.
Pinette said he spoke with a woman with a red mark on her face and scratches on her arm who told him Melody Paul, 22, who lives in Bangor, assaulted her twice that night.
The woman’s boyfriend said Melody Paul knocked the woman down and punched and kicked her.
Pinette said Paul was agitated and swore when he spoke with her. He issued her a disorderly conduct warning. When he attempted to summon her for the assault, he said, she threw down his summons book, whereupon he arrested her for refusing to sign and for disorderly conduct.
Bangor police arrested an alleged drunken driver who had a “high tolerance” early Sunday morning.
About 2:45 a.m. Officer Steve Jordan was at a stoplight on Odlin Road when he saw a pickup truck on Outer Hammond Street approach the intersection on the wrong side of the island. The truck drove over the island to the proper lane by the time it got to the light, Jordan said.
When the truck turned onto Odlin Road, Jordan turned around and followed as it wove toward town at about 10 mph faster than the posted speed limit. He said he stopped the truck on Hammond Street.
The driver, Frank Thompson, 39, of Bangor, had clumsy fingers and difficulty finding all of his paperwork, Jordan said. His eyes were glassy and his breath smelled of alcohol.
Field sobriety tests showed Thompson’s balance and counting ability were impaired. Thompson allegedly told Jordan he couldn’t feel the effects of alcohol, explaining he had a “high tolerance.”
Jordan arrested Thompson for operating while under the influence.
