An Eddington man on probation was stopped in Brewer with a stolen four-wheeler in his car.

Officer John Knapp said he was on patrol just before 2 a.m. when he saw a car moving fast on Chamberlain Street. Knapp caught up with the car on Eastern Avenue heading toward Holden.

When Knapp saw a small four-wheeler sticking out of the trunk of the car, he stopped the driver for speed.

Knapp said the driver, Benjamin Moorside, 22, was on probation. Because Moorside allegedly had been drinking, the Department of Probation and Parole had Knapp hold him for violation of his probation.

A later interview with Moorside revealed he went through the fence at B&D Marine and took the four-wheeler from its lot, Knapp said.

With the help of Officer Rich Smith and Cpl. Levi Sewall, Knapp contacted the owner of B&D Marine and confirmed that the vehicle was stolen.

Moorside was charged with theft and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

A Honda disappeared from a Bangor residence Monday night while its owner was in Japan.

According to Bangor police Officer Chris Blanchard, a man called just after 7 a.m. Tuesday saying a black 1994 Honda Accord was missing. It was parked near his house the night before.

The man said the only other person with keys was his father, the car’s registered owner, who is in Japan.

Blanchard said there are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.
