Big School (Classes A-B)

CHAD GOMM

Gomm, a senior pitcher on the Brewer baseball team, struck out 17 and allowed just four hits in the Witches’ 6-3 season opening win over MDI. Gomm gave up just one earned run in the game.

Small School (Classes C-D)

STEVE COLBETH

A junior at Washingon Academy of East Machias, Colbeth struck out 14 and had a triple, double, single and three RBIs in the Raiders 7-3 win over Machias.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

MORGAN CRANDALL

Crandall, a senior pitcher for the Belfast softball team, beat Lincoln Academy 15-0 for her sixth career no-hitter. She had 12 strikeouts in the game.

Small School (Classes C-D)

SHAWNA BELL

The Central of Corinth junior had the game-winning RBI double in a 9-8 win over Bangor Christian Friday, a triple in a 9-8 win over Stearns Thursday, and a double in an 8-7 win over Hermon Monday. The Red Devils are 3-0.
