BREWER – Ashley Austin, Sarah Taylor, Sarah Hodgins, Abbie Armstrong and Tara MacLeod, members of Girl Scout Troop 432 of Brewer, have earned Silver Awards, the highest honor a Cadette Girl Scout may earn. The award ceremony was held April 6 at Brewer Middle School. Sandy Hodgins, Kathy MacLeod and Roanne Austin are the troop advisers.

For their Silver Award project, the girls chose to reorganize the costume shop for the Brewer Youth Theatre. The room, located at Brewer Middle School, was outfitted with clothing racks on three walls and shelving on a fourth wall. Costumes were organized and hung on racks or placed in marked boxes on the shelves.

Abnaki Council representatives Bobbi and Vernon Cox presented the awards. In addition to the Silver Award pin, the girls received T-shirts, pencils, a yellow rose bowl and numerous letters of congratulation. State Rep. William Rogers presented a certificate to each girl from the Maine Senate and House of Representatives.
