Medomak Valley rallies by Tigers

WALDOBORO – Jamie Havener slammed a three-run home run in the seventh and Carlos Arteaga led off with a solo shot to rally the Medomak Valley Panthers to an 11-9 schoolboy baseball victory over the Gardiner Tigers Thursday.

Sam Adolphson and Chris Mitchell each singled and scored on Havener’s game-winning homer. Arteaga finished with two solo homers and two singles for four RBIs.

Chris Ramsey tripled and singled twice for Gardiner and Nate Munzing chipped in with two doubles. Tom Colby added a single and double.

At Thorndike, Pat Duchette racked up three singles and knocked in a pair of runs to power the Raiders of Sabattus.

Adam Lebee had two singles plus an RBI for Oak Hill. Nate Eaton and Adam Sheffsell provided two singles each.

Marc McCorrison doubled, singled and drove in a run to lead the Mustangs. Kenton Spaulding added two singles.

At Pittsfield, Jake Lasselle scored what proved to be the game-winner on a wild pitch after he had tied the game on an RBI triple during a four-run sixth inning for the Huskies.

Andrew DeBethune got things going with a two-run double. Jason Hall doubled, singled and knocked in a run. Ryan Kennedy had two singles.

Ian Doherty slammed a two-run homer for Camden Hills.

At Jonesport, Scott Flannery hit a double and two singles to help East Grand win.

Matt Merchant hit a three-run homer and Charlie Chandler hit two doubles with two RBIs.

At Blue Hill, Josh Gott, Adam Cousins, and James Friend combined to give up only one earned run, two hits, and five walks while striking out eight to lead George Stevens Academy to the win.

Mark Clapp hit a two-run triple for GSA, Chris Sargent hit a pair of singles with a RBI and Britt Harmon had a RBI double.

Matt Smith hit a RBI single for Sumner.

At Machias, Jesse Cross hit two singles with two RBIs to lead Woodland to the win.

Josh Engroff hit a pair of singles for the Dragons.

Todd Stevens hit a solo home run for Machias. Marcus Frutchey had two doubles and a single with a RBI and Joe Richards doubled, singled and drove in a run.

Sheila Wilber singled and doubled with a RBI for the Vikings. Nicole Shute had a pair of singles with a RBI and Lindsey Seekins and Megan Brassbridge singled twice.

At Machias, Sarah Maker hit a triple, two singles, and had two RBIs to lead Machias.

At Rockland, senior Morgan Crandall tossed her seventh career no-hitter, her second of the year as the Lions knocked off the Tigers.

Crandall faced the minimum of 21 batters, allowing just one baserunner on a walk, who was picked off on a steal attempt. She fanned nine batters.

Melissa Gray gave Crandall some insurance with a two-run double in the seventh. She also had a single. Angela Marden knocked in what proved to be the game-winner with an RBI double in the second. Danielle Mayer stroked an RBI single in the sixth.

Darcey Gillespie and Jamie Doliber each contributed two hits and Gillespie had an RBI for Calais. Cassie Thomas had an RBI single in a five-run second inning rally.

Sara Rushforth tripled and singled and drove in two runs for Washington Academy.
